We are very excited to announce that the Linwood Place Neighborhood Association Steering Committee has approved the initial funding of a neighborhood sidewalk replacement program. Many of the sidewalks in our neighborhood are badly cracked and in need of replacement. Sidewalks are the sole responsibility of the homeowner; but new sidewalks benefit everyone in the neighborhood that walks, strolls, or jogs. The program was established to reimburse eligible property owners up to a maximum of $1000 or $2000 (in-block vs. corner property) for sidewalk replacement projects. Application is available in the Spring 2016 Issue of the Trolley Stop, or can be printed below. Applications must be received on or before April 15th 2016 to be considered for 2016 budget reimbursement.
Program guidelines provide reimbursable grants up to 50% of the eligible sidewalk replacement cost, or a maximum of $1000 for properties within the block, and a maximum of $2000 for corner properties with sidewalks along two sides. (Note: For corner property projects, the reimbursement maximum will be limited to $1000 if only one side is replaced). Only sidewalks parallel to the street and those from the curb to the sidewalk are eligible for the grants. Driveway aprons and sidewalks to the front door do not qualify. New sidewalk installation will be approved they meet guidelines. The relationship between the property owner and the sidewalk contractor will be exclusive. The LPNA assumes no responsibility for the work of the contractor performing the sidewalk replacement for the property owner. Property owners will be fully responsible for the satisfactory completion of work and they payment in full to their contractor for their project before LPNA will disburse funds for reimbursement. All work must comply with the current City of Oklahoma City Building, Construction, and Zoning ordinances and guidelines. Where applicable segments of sidewalks that fall under the criteria of the Americans with Disabilities Act should be constructed to accommodate the curb cuts and grade requirements for wheel chair access.
To be eligible for the matching grant program:
Property owners must be members of the Linwood Place Neighborhood Association;
Sidewalks must be on residential properties within Linwood Place;
Property owners must use licensed contractors;
Completion of Sidewalks must occur by September 30th, 2016
